Redemption: Bud Light’s Summer Heat Main Event

June 17, 2009 by Sensei

Redemption.

Defined by dictionary.com as “an act of redeeming or the state of being redeemed.”  Redeemed is defined as ”to make up for; make amends for.”

In the main event of Bud Light’s Summer Heat, Kamrin “The Little Demon” Naville is looking to make up for a poor performance in a professional match of over a year ago. In this match, Naville lost to Chris Thorne of Tallahassee MMA.

Naville lands a left to Thorne in the first match a year and a half ago.

Naville was well on his way to losing a Unanimous Decision, then the referee stopped the match towards the end of the third round. Naville had taken the worse beating of his professional career.

At the time of the match, Naville was struggling physically and emotionally – unknown to his trainer and team. Naville was suffering with a virus and a hard weight cut. He had also just met, arriving unannounced in Valdosta the week of the match, his biological father who wanted to get to know his son.

Fast forward over a year later and The Little Demon has had some major accomplishments in his professional career. Kamrin put his nose to the grindstone and worked to improve his game; both with Cam McHargue, VMAC’s affiliate grappling coach from Team Praxis, and by even more intense training at VMAC.

He succeeded tremendously.

The underdog in two main event matches in Atlanta, he was the victor in both. In one of them, he stopped Stephen Ledbetter of The Hardcore Gym. Ledbetter, a WEC veteran, was 13-1. He had never been stopped before in a match. Naville TKOed him in the second.

Naville had another significant achievement in his career recently via a loss. He lost via decision to Junior Assuncao (3 time UFC veteran) on a King of the Cage pay-per-view. Yet in losing this tough match, he earned a lot of respect. So much respect, that recently an Atlanta promoter was unable to match him in a fight because he couldn’t find a fighter who would take the match.

Now, Naville has moved to Miami and lives with his biological father. His father also trains in MMA, for more than a decade, and completely supports his son’s efforts.

Naville has returned to the Azalea City looking for redemption.

He is determined to find it at Bud Light’s Summer Heat this Saturday night.
