Change for Chism in Main Event
---Brett Chism to face Matt Dorsten for Heat Professional Middleweight Title----- For those new to the sport of mixed martial arts, the crazy thing about preparing to fight is fighters often become injured in training and then are unable to compete. So is the story of Bernard Rutherford . Rutherford (right) lost to the Georgia State Professional Light Heavyweight Title to Brett Chism at Winter Heat 2009. Since then, Rutherford has pursued a rematch with Chism to the point that he often would confront Chism at various shows around Georgia. Tuzer Times Two?
Tuzer Chism has a hard act to follow. At Bud Light's Winter Heat this past January, he launched the kick heard around South Georgia. It was THE finish of that night of fights. Can he have a great performance again? He has been critized here on valdostamac.com as it being a "lucky, one in a million" kick. While experts like Stephen Eakin have stepped up and said, "(laughing out loud) at calling any head kick lucky." The younger Chism will face Codey Eddy of Team Darkside. Eddy is an excellent athlete in great shape. The same Eakin mentioned above says that Eddy ...
Willson Steps Up to Pro Co-Main
The co-main event at Bud Light's Summer Heat will feature Dickie "The Shocker" Willson. He will face the extremely tough Jay Hernandez in this match. Dickie's last fight was at his professional debut at Bud Light's Winter Heat. He fought Josh Montoro. It was a rough, crowd pleasing, highly physical match that was back and forth the entire time. It saw Willson defeat Montoro in the second round. The audience can expect the same sort of match against Hernandez at Bud Light's Summer Heat. Hernandez is a strong and tough fighter. At one of our past Heat events, ...

Another Valdosta Martial Arts Center standout, Eric Farmer, is up for a title. Farmer is set to compete for the Heat Promotions Lightweight Amateur title at Bud Light's Summer Heat. Farmer is set to face Richie Harper of Douglas. Harper is the cousin of Scott Harper, retired professional standout fighter and American Top Team member, also from Douglas. Farmer is well rounded in both striking and grappling. His last outing was at Bud Light's Winter Heat against David Stephenson. He was able to stop the scrappy Stephenson via punch TKO (referee stoppage). Look forward to a great title fight between Farmer and ...
Snow Returns After Year Break
It's been a year since Shawn Snow stepped in the cage. He's making his return at Bud Light's Summer Heat against Jonathan Baldree. Snow last fought at last year's Bud Light's Summer Heat (2009). When Kamrin Naville was unable to fight that night, Snow and his opponent, Harris Norwood, agreed to step up and fight for the Georgia State Professional Lightweight MMA Title. Snow defeated Norwood quickly. Snow choked him to tapout submission by rear naked choke. Snow won the title in a little more than 20 seconds. In his return, he is facing a scrappy opponent. Baldree is undefeated ...
Johnson to Make War at Summer Heat
Brent "The War Machine" Johnson is the senior member of the Valdosta Martial Arts Center (VMAC) fight team. Brent has been training at VMAC for a little more than two years. He has fought all over the state of Georgia. He also won the Heat Events Amateur Super Heavyweight Title belt at last year's Bud Light's Winter Heat. His last local outing saw him takedown his opponent, Terry Blackburn of Jacksonville in the third round and ground and pound him for a majority of the round. However, he lost a very close decision on the judges' scorecards. Next Saturday, Johnson will face ...
